However, the competition's delay for two seasons has left Lomax's future uncertain. Now, with the Storm expressing interest, the situation has taken an intriguing turn.

Lomax's departure from Parramatta came with a catch - he cannot play for another NRL team until 2029 unless Parramatta agrees. The Eels have made their stance clear, demanding compensation for Lomax's move to the Storm and naming specific players they would accept in return: Xavier Coates, Stefano Utoikamanu, or Jack Howarth.
But here's where it gets controversial... RLPA chief executive Clint Newton has stepped in, urging clubs to avoid pressuring players into moves. Newton emphasizes the importance of honoring existing contracts, stating, "Players who have existing contracts have every right to see out their futures at the club they signed with."
Newton further explains, "We want to ensure that players are not used as pawns in these situations. It's not about horse-trading; it's about respecting the player's choice and the terms of their contract."
And this is the part most people miss... Newton believes that the Storm, being aware of Lomax's contractual situation, will honor the process and respect the player's rights. He remains confident that a solution can be reached, benefiting all parties involved.
However, the Eels' CEO, Jim Sarantinos, has a different perspective. He highlights the protections they put in place when granting Lomax's release, stating, "We ensured there were safeguards in place during the period he was contracted to us, and he agreed to those terms."
Sarantinos adds, "With things not going as planned for Lomax, he now seeks opportunities within the NRL. We won't consent to him joining another club without receiving something of value in return."
